When did NYX become cruelty-free?
Published March 19, 2015 by, Last Updated August 9, 2019. NYX Cosmetics has been a committed member of PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies program since 2010. In 2014, though, NYX was acquired by L’Oréal, a company that chooses to sell in China, where tests on animals are required.

Is NYX Skin Veil vegan?
New Vegan Favourite – NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil (REVIEW) As I am getting older I tend to move away from heavy foundations but the problem I faced so far with lighter textured bases is that they don’t last as long on me or they move during the day so touch-ups are needed.
I think I’ve found the best antidote so far from an unexpected place: NYX. I am always happy to explore budget vegan options so understandably I am very excited to introduce NYX’s Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil to you today. NYX has been mostly known for their full coverage formulations, but they have launched the Bare With Me Collection back in April which is all about hydration and glowing skin.
Catering outside of the IG generation and coming up with new products that target a completely different type of customer is a welcome change from the brand in my book and it’s already making a great impression in the beauty world. Featuring a new soft pink packaging the range consist of a primer, a tinted moisturiser, cheek tints and a setting spray. Since I am not really into primers or setting sprays and I have more than enough blushers, I instantly went for the Tinted Skin Veil just because I love to experiment with different types of bases. After using it for a few weeks here are the details:
Packaging : light pink tube with a narrow nozzle. The Claim : ‘Weightless and hydrating, the tinted cream delivers a veil of breathable coverage with a seamless, satin finish to leave skin looking naturally smooth and flawless. The lightweight BB cream feels like a second skin and provides up to eight hours of hydration. Infused with Aloe and Cucumber extracts.’
Ingredients : Water/Aqua/Eau, Cyclopentasiloxane, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Isododecane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Caprylyl Methicone, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Bis-PEG/PPG-14/14 Dimethicone, Propylene Carbonate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Magnesium Sulfate, Cucumis Sativus Fruit Extract/Cucumber Fruit Extract, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Bis-Isobutyl PEG/PPG-10/7/Dimethicone Copolymer, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Maltodextrin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol.
Who it is for : I can see this working on all skin types, even oily ones with the right primer. Texture : soft, velvety, easy to work with. Finish : natural, satin, not matte, not glowy.
Coverage : light to medium, pretty buildable. SPF : none. Application : you could apply this with fingertips, brush or a sponge. For me, a sponge works the best.
How it worked for me : I applied this first with fingertips but then later I swapped for a sponge application which seemed to work better because I used less product this way. The texture of the formula is creamy, not too runny so it is easy to handle.
A little goes a long way and I was impressed by how well it evens out the skin tone really quickly considering this is only a BB cream. The formula is light, yet provides great coverage, lasts amazingly well during the day without settling into fine lines and it doesn’t even turn that oily on my t-zone during the day which is a little short of a miracle in my case.
I think this is a great, comfortable, hydrating, everyday base and it is incredibly well-formulated for the budget price of £10.00. NYX says it’s not a foundation but the coverage and longevity on the skin easily could justify calling it that. But you know what? Call it what you will, this is a great buy nevertheless. The Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil comes in 12 shades, it is also cruelty-free and vegan. Value for money: excellent, you get 27ml for £10.00.
